Hazarduari Palace

It is known for its thousand doors, after which it is named. Ans. The Hazarduari Palace, located in the Kila Nizamat region of Murshidabad, West Bengal, was built by Nawab Nazim Humayun Jah of Bengal. Duncan MacLeod designed the building, and the foundation stone was placed on August 9, 1829. There are plenty of tourist attractions near this museum, including Jafarganj Cemetery, Katra Masjid, Motijheel Park, Imambara and Kathgola Gardens. The museum is closed on Friday. Entry ticket is priced at INR 10 for Indians and INR 100 for foreigners. Built in European architectural style in 1837, the Hazarduari palace is a three-storey palace and comprises 1000 doors, 114 rooms and eight galleries. The palace was built by Duncun McLeod for the Nawab Najim Humaun Jah, descendent of Mir Zafar.

This garden complex was built in the 18th century by the wealthy merchant and banker, Rai Bahadur Lakshmipat Singh Dugar. Spanning over an area that showcases ornamental statues, a beautiful pond, and a variety of flora, Kathgola is a serene retreat from the chaos of everyday life.Kathgola was once the capital of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa during the rule of Nawabs of Bengal. Kathgola has big gardens and hence is known by the name of Kathgola Gardens.Kathgola Palace is a historical building belonging to the Dugar family at Kathgola in the Murshidabad-Jiaganj CD block of Murshidabad district.
Jagat Seth House

House of Jagat Seth Museum was established in 1980. It is privately managed. It contains personal possessions of the Jagat Seth family including coins of the bygone era, muslin and other extravagant clothes, Banarasi sarees embroidered with gold and silver threads.The 1857 uprising was the final straw for them. The Jagat Seths had disappeared from public eye by the 1900s. He was originally known as Fateh Chand but was given the title of Jagat Seth by Muhammed Shah in 1723. After adopting the title, his whole family was known as the Jagat Seth Family. His new name meant 'Banker of the World' as he used to offer loans to foreign countries as well in the 18th century.Similar to the Mughals, their descendants are unknown. A short distance from Hazarduari, Jagat Seth's home has since been turned into a museum located in Murshidabad.
