Bed bugs are a common household pest that can wreak havoc on your sleeping habits and overall well-being.
These tiny bloodsuckers can infest your bed, furniture, and even your clothing, causing itchy bites and leaving you feeling uncomfortable in your own home.
If you’ve ever experienced a bed bug infestation you know just how frustrating and difficult it can be to get rid of them.
But fear not, we will show you how 2 simple products can help you eliminate bed bugs and prevent them from returning.
These 2 products are vicks vaporub and lemon juice.
VapoRub is an ancient remedy to relieve nasal congestion and it has many other uses.
Vicks VapoRub is mainly used as a topical ointment made of ingredients including menthol, camphor and eucalyptus oil .
It also contains several essential oils , including cedarleaf oil, nutmeg oil, petroleum, thymol and turpentine oil.
Vicks vaporub also contains methol and this is extremely poisonous to insects including bed bugs.
Vicks VapoRub's scent can repel bed bugs and keep them from biting you.
Bedbugs will stay away from something or someone that has Vicks applied on it. Therefore you can apply Vicks to your skin or put a little bit of it on the bottom and inside seams of mattresses and nearby cracks to keep them away.
Also target any areas you have found these annoying creatures crawling around at night.
It can also be applied around the legs of the bed to stop them from crawling up towards you as they will not cross a barrier of vicks.
Lemon juice is also awesome to keep bedbugs away.
Smelling citrus scents like lemon is pleasing for humans, but for bed bugs, it’s death.
Lemons have a natural component in their peels called D-limonene, which is used in many organic insecticides and pesticides.
Its signature citrusy scent helps to get rid of bed bugs.
Luckily, D-limonene is non-toxic to humans and other mammals, so you don't have to worry about it harming you, or your family members and pets when using it liberally around the home.
It’s best to use fresh lemon as opposed to store-bought lemon juice to take full advantage of this ingredient’s anti-bed bug properties.
To make your own lemon juice concoction, simply take a lemon or two and roll them on a counter while applying pressure with the palm of your hand.
This will help to loosen the juices inside.
Next, cut the lemon in half and squeeze it into a bowl, making sure to pick out any seeds.
Pour the juice into an empty spritz bottle, add a dash of dish soap, and fill the rest with water.
Finally, secure the top and give it a good shake.
Now you are ready to start spritzing for bed bugs.
Spray it in multiple locations in your home to kill them, especially wherever you have seen signs of them.
