Audi is elevating its Q8 model with a blend of enhanced design and cutting-edge technology. The SUV coupé's exterior has been revamped with new front and rear aprons, emphasizing its robust character. One of the most significant upgrades is the introduction of HD Matrix LED headlights with an additional laser high beam, digital daytime running lights, and selectable light signatures. The rear also features digital OLED lights with four selectable designs. The interior is not left behind; it comes with new wheels, colors, decorative inlays, and seats with contrast stitching. The new Audi Q8 starts at 86,700 euros.
The exterior design of the Q8 is expressive and sporty, featuring short overhangs and a long wheelbase. The Audi Singleframe grille now has vertical inlays, giving it a more imposing look. The new air intakes and reduced decorative elements contribute to a purer design. Audi offers an S line exterior package for those who desire a sportier appearance, and the SQ8 TFSI model comes with its own set of unique features.
Audi has also introduced new lighting technology in the Q8. The HD Matrix LED headlights come with an additional laser light and digital daytime running lights. The OLED rear lights are also a new addition, offering four selectable light signatures. These lighting features not only enhance visibility but also add to the vehicle's aesthetic appeal.
The interior of the Q8 has been refined with new decorative inlays and seats with contrast stitching. Nine different inlays are available, along with new finishes like Fine grain ash natural silver, Carbon twill matt, and Aluminium linear silver grey. The wheel range has also been expanded, offering five new designs ranging from 21 to 23 inches.
Audi has updated the infotainment system in the Q8, allowing passengers to use popular third-party apps like Spotify and Amazon Music. The Audi virtual cockpit has also received upgrades, displaying various driver assistance features in full HD quality. Standard equipment now includes 20-inch alloy wheels, a rearview camera, park and high beam assist, and a convenience key.
The Q8 offers a balanced and controlled driving experience, thanks to its advanced suspension system. Optional features like electronically controlled air suspension and all-wheel steering further enhance the vehicle's handling. The SQ8 TFSI model comes standard with adaptive air suspension sport and all-wheel steering, offering a more dynamic driving experience.
Under the hood, the Q8 offers a range of powertrains, starting with the 45 TDI quattro, a three-liter diesel engine with 170 kW (231 PS) of output. It is followed by the more powerful 50 TDI quattro and the 55 TFSI quattro, which features a six-cylinder Otto engine with 250 kW (340 PS). All engines are paired with an eight-speed tiptronic and quattro permanent four-wheel drive.
Audi has also incorporated a mild hybrid system in the Q8, which can achieve fuel savings of up to 0.5 liters per 100 kilometers. The system includes a lithium-ion battery and a belt alternator starter (BAS), which supplies power to the vehicle's 48V main electrical system. The BAS also enables the Q8 to coast with the engine off, further enhancing fuel efficiency.
The SQ8 TFSI model takes sportiness to another level with a 4.0 TFSI engine that delivers 373 kW (507 PS) and 770 Nm of torque. It accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.1 seconds and has an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The SQ8 also features a cylinder on demand system that deactivates certain cylinders at low to medium loads, improving fuel efficiency.
The upgraded Audi Q8 is set to launch in September 2023, with prices starting at 86,700 euros for the 45 TDI quattro model. The 50 TDI quattro is priced at 89,700 euros, the 55 TFSI quattro at 89,900 euros, and the SQ8 TFSI starts at 119,500 euros. With its blend of expressive design, advanced technology, and a range of powertrains, the new Audi Q8 aims to set a new standard in the luxury SUV segment.
