At least 4 dead and over 100 others were injured after heavy rainfall and stormy winds hit the Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal on March 31. Rain and hailstorm caused damage to houses, buildings and crops. Several trees also got uprooted and the power supply was discontinued in the entire district to avoid any mishaps. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee took to her ‘X’ handle and announced compensation to the next of kin of the dead and injured.
