On Dec 28 1948, an earthquake shook parts of Singapore and damaged a building in Chinatown.

In August and September 2025, a series of minor earthquakes occurred in Johor, Malaysia. On September 27, a 3.5-magnitude tremor was recorded off the waters of Batu Pahat in Johor at 9.04am. According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the tremor originated about 25km southeast of Batu Pahat.
