Months after it began, a new Ipsos poll exclusively for Global News shows buying Canadian products remains a priority for most consumers in the country.

The poll found 56 per cent of Canadians say they are buying more Canadian products and investing in services, while 58 per cent say they're avoiding American products, services and travel.

"All of it adds up to bad news for anybody who's trying to import things from the U.S. and anybody who has an American brand in this country, it's something that you are going to deal with," said Ipsos global CEO Darrell Bricker. "For people who are selling products and services to Canadians, saying that you're from Canada, what this shows is that there is at least half of the population that says that's something that they're going to take into consideration."

Ipsos also found 82 per cent of Canadians say they will continue to buy Canadian even if the tensions with the U.S. resolve, while 57 per cent say they'll still avoid American-made products and services.
