Описание к видео A large Ovarian Cyst.

This video shows a Large Ovarian Cyst.
We don't usually consider surgery unless a cyst is larger than 50-60mm (5-6cm) although that may depend on what the cyst looks like and what symptoms it causes. Ovarian cysts are so common that nearly every woman will have one at some stage in her life. Many women will have no problems related to the cyst.
When a cancerous ovarian cyst gets bigger, it can cause pain, and pressure, and a feeling of abdominal fullness because we cannot always tell which cysts or cancerous on ultrasound.
What causes a giant ovarian cyst?
Cysts can also be caused by: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition that causes multiple cysts on the ovaries. Pregnancy. Severe pelvic infection such as chlamydia.
If you know you have an ovarian cyst and you experience any of the following symptoms, get medical help right away. Sudden, severe abdominal pain. Abdominal pain with fever and vomiting. Faintness, dizziness, or weakness.
Occasionally ovarian cysts can affect the action of your bladder or bowels so that you have trouble emptying them. You may also find that you need to urinate more often.
Usually, torsion doesn't occur unless the cyst is between 5 cm and 8 cm in size, which is considered the “danger zone.” Cysts that are smaller than that range typically aren't big enough to cause the ovary to flip, and cysts that are larger take up too much space for flipping to be a threat.
These cysts appear and disappear as you progress from one menstrual cycle to the next. Pain sometimes accompanies physiologic ovarian cysts. Cysts occur as part of every menstrual cycle—but most women do not experience pain during every menstrual cycle.
Large or persistent ovarian cysts, or cysts that are causing symptoms, usually need to be surgically removed. Surgery is also normally recommended if there are concerns that the cyst could be cancerous or could become cancerous.
Most of these cysts are benign in nature with the chance of malignancy being only 7%–13% in premenopausal and 8%–45% in postmenopausal women. Huge size ovarian serous cystadenoma is rare. In the literature, a few cases of giant ovarian cysts have been mentioned sporadically, primarily in elderly patients.
Giant ovarian cysts, which are described in the literature as measuring more than 10 cms in size in their largest diameter, are rare in occurrence. With the availability of multiple imaging modalities and routine physical examinations, it has become even rarer to find such cases.
Can ovarian cysts cause you to gain weight? Yes. Some cysts are hormone-secreting cysts, which can impact several parts of your health including your weight. PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) can also cause metabolic issues, which can lead to weight gain.
The pain may be caused by the cyst putting pressure on the bowel, stomach, and even the bladder causing an increased need to urinate. If the pain is persistent and unpredictable, get it checked out with us at Gynecology & Wellness Center to rule out a cyst that's grown out of control.
