Huge Nasal/Nose Polyp Removal!!

Yes as promised to my #snot fans, here is a #booger video for you! This patient has nasal polyps which are an inflammatory reaction of the nasal tissue. They can cause a lot of sinus problems as well as difficulty breathing through the nose. People can get them but usually they are not as severe as this patient. Often we find them in patients who also have asthma and an aspirin sensitivity. Fun fact, I actually had a right nasal polyp that I found 2 years ago because I was having all the classic symptoms!! (Yes I put a camera in my own nose to see it)

This video is looking into the left nasal passage. The mid part of the nose called the septum is on the left of the screen. There are normal structures called turbinates in the nose which can be seen on the right and then coming from the top. But most of the tissue you see in the video is nasal polyps. The big one I took out was blocking this whole side. He had plenty more that also needed removal.
