Apple Watch Series 3 vs Series 7, which should you buy, is it worth the upgrade? Today I am going to be comparing the Apple Watch Series 7 to the Apple Watch series 3. The Series 7 is newer and thus has more features compared to the Series 3, it comes in at double the price. In this video I will look at value. I will compare the areas that I think matter most in a smartwatch. Display. Battery. Performance. Features. To help you decide which Apple Watch to buy. Series 3 $199 GPS Aluminium Case. Series 7 $399 GPS + Cellular Aluminium stainless steel titanium. Series 3 Retina display. 38mm and 42mm. Series 7 always-on Retina display 41mm and 45mm. Both OLED screens are bright enough to see in all lighting conditions. Clear, high resolution and detailed. Watch case is same size but Series 7 has 50% more screen space. Makes a big difference in everything that you do. Content is more readable, see more content (more lines of text, more roads on maps). Thinner bezels on Series 7 more modern. The Series 3 screen is doable but Series 7 is a big step up in every way. Series 7 also has an always on display. I appreciate this more than I thought I would. Functional, check time for subtly without turning wrist. Looks good to have watch face on screen. One thing I was disappointed to see was I already started getting micro scratches on the display of my Series 7. While on the Series 3 I have none. Battery. Series 3 18hrs. Series 7 18hrs and 33% fast charging. How you setup your watch is key, notifications and background app refresh play a big role in battery life. Both can get me through a full day with around 30% remaining. What about performance? Performance. Series 3 keeps up well, scrolling through text and apps, opening and closing menus. Can stutter occasionally when switching between apps. Apps take a bit of time to load. Series 7 noticeably faster. No lag and apps launch quickly. When it comes to performance, the Series 3 does well and is great to see it still being supported. The Series 7 is faster and you feel the difference. Newer processor of the Series 7 will receive software updates for 4-5 more years. Features. Series 3, Apple Watch sets the bar high. Has all essential smartwatch features. Notifications, Track, workout, Heart rate measurements, Maps, Siri. All features I use often! Series 7 adds. Blood oxygen sensor. ECG readings. Haptic feedback. Fall detection. Noise monitoring. I do not use my S7 very differently from my Series 3. That said, with the bigger display and faster performance, the experience is more enjoyable. I am more quick to start a task on my S7 compared to S3. So which Apple Watch is the best value option? The S7 has it all and the competition from other brands, don’t come close. If you know you are going to enjoy having an Apple Watch and want the latest and greatest and don’t mind paying for that than the S7 is a watch I can highly recommend and offers best value. However, if you are new to the Apple Watch and want the core Apple Watch experience without spending a lot of money, the S3 is still a good option as it offers the key features.
