Day 3 of 4.

(This video is so long because 1 - I got a ridiculous amount of footage on this day; more than I planned and 2 - I hate splitting up videos into multiple parts, as it makes the rendering process even more annoying and tedious than it already is).

On this day, I started by catching a very early morning train from Masterton, then filming some of the morning locomotive-hauled services in and out of Wellington station. This included the Northern Explorer (train 200) and the Capital Connection (train 1203).

Then I headed up the Hutt Valley Line to Waterloo and Woburn. During this time I caught 648 in Woburn amongst the usual Matangi sets (I also noticed again just how ugly Waterloo station is). Upon arriving back in Wellington I decided to go ride the iconic Cable Car, which connects Lambton Quay with Kelburn. Ordinarilly I don't go any further south of the station than the Cable Car; as such I don't know areas like Island Bay at all.

After returning to the station on a bus, I went up to Ava to try and film some trains crossing the Hutt River just east of the station. This worked - to an extent - but I ended up having to walk all the way from the Hutt River bridge to Woburn station.

Once this stupid escapade was over, I went back into Wellington and up the Johnsonville Line. This was mainly so I could film at the unique pedestrian crossing in Khandallah again. The crossing is unique because it is equipped with Dutch e-bells, and is the only crossing in New Zealand with such a feature.

With the Johnsonville Line covered, I went back into Wellington again and took one of the peak-time stopping trains to Taita. Once there I hung around for about 30 minutes and filmed a number of Matangi units.

My last ride on a Matangi unit was from Taita to Upper Hutt. Once there I quickly bought a ticket for Masterton and hopped on Train 1608, which was hauled by DFB 7267.
