Tales of Warriors ('Tales of' Musou) coming to PlayStation 3 Q4 2017!
'Tales of' Musou (無双'Tales of', Musou 'Tales of') is a crossover collaboration series fusing the worlds of the 'Tales of' series with the hit Musou series. Originally, the game 'Tales of' Orochi was supposed to be a parting game for current-gen consoles, namely the PlayStation 3, however Bandai Namco and Koei Tecmo decided the core fanbase still resides on PlayStation 3 and decided to exclusively release the title to the PlayStation 3. Despite the PlayStation 3 production halting in Japan, they have decided to go forward with the release, making this a limited physical release with a digital release. It was also meant to be a "wish fulfillment" production for both fans and developers alike.
However, due to the success and fan reaction of the first game, Koei made a series out of the concept. In a recent interview with Famitsu, Hideo Baba, formerly of Studio Istolia, came back for production of Tales of Warriors and stated "That Fire Emblem Heroes mobile game ate money out of my wallet, so I'm coming back to help the fans cope." The formerly announced Fire Emblem Warriors crossover game has had its production cancelled in Japan. Tales of Warriors launches worldwide this Fall 2017! Play as popular 'Tales of' mascots such as Asbel Lhant, Yuri Lowell, Flynn, and more!
The Tales series, known in Japan as the Tales of series (Japanese: 「テイルズ オブ」シリーズ Hepburn: "Teiruzu Obu" Shirīzu?), is a franchise of fantasy role-playing video games published by Bandai Namco Entertainment (formerly Namco), and developed by its subsidiary, Namco Tales Studio until 2011 and presently by Bandai Namco. First begun in 1995 with the development and release of Tales of Phantasia for the Super Famicom, the series currently spans sixteen main titles, multiple spin-off games and supplementary media in the form of manga series, anime series, and audio dramas.
While entries in the series generally stand independent of each other with different characters and stories, they are commonly linked by their gameplay, themes and high fantasy settings. The series is characterized by its art style, which draws from Japanese manga and anime, and its action-based fighting system called the "Linear Motion Battle System". Multiple people have become linked with the series, including character designers Kōsuke Fujishima and Mutsumi Inomata, producers Hideo Baba and Makoto Yoshizumi, and composer Motoi Sakuraba. The series was created by Yoshiharu Gotanda.
Most of the main Tales games have been localized for North America and Europe, although almost all of the spinoff titles have not been released abroad. While generally seen as a niche series in English speaking regions, Tales is considered a high-profile property in Japan, just behind other series such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. The series has been gaining popularity in the West since the release of Tales of Symphonia, which is still considered one of its most popular titles. As of December 2013, the series has sold 16 million units worldwide.
