"For me, classical ballet is classical ballet, you know. I'm very honoured to be at the Bolshoi Theatre and I respect its traditions. And I feel that when I dance on stage I will be bringing a mixture or my style of dancing and also I'm very open to learning some of the techniques of the Bolshoi Theatre."

STORYLINE:
The choreographer Yuri Grigorovich held a dress rehearsal at the newly opened Bolshoi theatre on Wednesday, ahead of the opening performances of the ballet 'Sleeping Beauty' by composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
The leading dancers, Bolshoi prima ballerina Svetlana Zakharova and American dancer David Hallberg, are to play Princess Aurora and Prince Desire.
Speaking to the press, Hallberg said that he was aware of the difference in the dancing style of the American ballet dancers and the classical style characterising the Russian school, but he did not see any any problem dancing with Russian partners.
"When I dance on stage I will be bringing a mixture or my style of dancing and also I'm very open to learning some of the techniques of the Bolshoi Theatre," said Hallberg, who until recently was a principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre.
The newly-refurbished Bolshoi Theatre opened on 26 October 2011 after a massive reconstruction effort that restored it to its original imperial splendour.
The 700 (m) million US dollar, six-year effort meticulously recreated the opulent 19th-century decor, many elements of which had been simplified or removed during communist rule.
The renovation also added state-of-the art stage gear and created an additional underground hall.
Sleeping Beauty premieres on Friday 18th November.
