What’s the Beverly Hills Ninja movie about?
In Japan, the monks of a ninja temple decide to teach the ninja arts to a white baby found washed up on a beach near their shrine. Thirty years later, the baby, now grown and named Haru (Chris Farley from Coneheads), has become a ninja nuisance: too corpulent, as incompetent in the martial arts as in the art of camouflage or the handling of weapons, clumsy, goofy and not very smart; Haru is therefore flunked at the final test of his training where his brother-in-arms Gobei (Robin Shou from Mortal Kombat) scores the best possible results and is accepted by the monks as a ninja. One night, while Haru is alone at the temple, an attractive American woman, Allison Page (Nicollette Sheridan from Desperate Housewives), comes to the temple. She explains to him that she needs a ninja for a delicate investigation: she suspects her fiancé, the industrialist Martin Tanley (Nathaniel Parker from The Inspector Lynley Mysteries), of being responsible for the death of his sister and of being involved in a traffic. Under the charm of the young American, Haru agrees to accompany her to Beverly Hills to conduct her own investigation. Worried and knowing that Haru will be unable to manage on his own, the monks of the ninja temple ask Gobei to follow Haru and help him in his investigation without him realizing it. Having just arrived in Beverly Hills, Haru, not knowing the American way of life, asks a young valet, Joey (Chris Rock from Down to Earth), to accompany him in his investigation to help him adapt. Unfortunately, Haru turns out to be even more clumsy than expected and Gobei struggles to steer him in the right direction every time.
