Every Memorial Day weekend as spring meltwater bumps up river flows, rafts, kayaks, catarafts, inflatable pool toys, river couches and the PBR-drinking people who pilot these crafts arrive at the Lochsa River between Highway 12 mile marker 139 and 109. Affectionately called the “Dirty Thirties,” this stretch of river contains 37 Class III, 25 Class IV and two Class V rapids with little downtime in between.
