This is a brief explanation of the CPU vulnerabilities called Meltdown and Spectre and what you can do to protect yourself against becoming a victim of these exploits. Intel, AMD, ARM chips (which power basically all phones) are all effected. In his video I'm trying to Answer the following questions:

1) Am I effected by meltdown or spectre?
2) what I can do to secure my pc or phone against meltdown and spectre?
3) Should I panic?



This bug effects both Intel and AMD chips along with almost all others including arm chips in your phone. Meltdown is currently only known to effect Intel and High end Arm chips but Spectre effects all CPUs.

You can do these things to protect yourself against these vulnerabilities:

Update to the latest version of Chrome (on January 23rd) or Firefox 57
Use Intel's Detection tool to see if you require a firmware update on Windows or Linux: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/down...
If you do need a firmware update go here and download it: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/...
On Windows update make sure KB4056892 is installed for Windows 10
On Macs set up auto updating for MacOS and iOS and update Safari if you use that.
On Android you need the latest (January) security patch
ChromeOS - same as chrome make sure it's up to date and there should be a version out soon that will protect against it.
