This video is one of an eleven-part series that explores how people working on the landscape in a variety ways are helping to achieve the goals of the Lake Champlain phosphorus Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL). The TMDL is a pollution budget that establishes limits for the amount of phosphorus the lake can receive and still remain healthy. It also identifies the reductions needed from different areas of the landscape for healthy water in the lake.

In this video, we share the story of how floodplain restoration and protection plays a role in reducing the impacts of flood events and reducing the amount of phosphorus reaching Lake Champlain. We learn about a project at the Dog River Park in Northfield that worked with residents and FEMA to restore the floodplain in that section of the community.
