Eheim skim 350 skimmer setup, unboxing, and review

I was looking for a solution to an oil slick on my aquarium surface to improve water quality. In this video I unbox, setup, and see how well the Eheim Skim 350 aquarium filter works for cleaning the tank and solving this problem, if at all.

To fix the oily protein slick at the surface of my aquarium I decided a surface skimming filter would probably work best. After researching my options I decided to try the eheim skim 350 which works in fresh or saltwater tanks. In my unboxing I show the main body including self leveling intake tube and motor, sponge filter, suction cups, and manual. The three suction cups push and twist into the holes in the back. The filter is mounted inside the fish tank where the floating intake would be fully extended so it can float down as the water evaporates. The power cord attaches to the bottom of the motor/impeller. I would have preferred a design where the power cord was on top. The sad part, to my shock, is that in my review you'll see the unit does not operate or is defective, dead on arrival.
