Graphics and Vision Discipline from the School of Computer Science and Statistics at Trinity College Dublin.
The Graphics and Vision Discipline is one of the TCD School of Computer Science and Statistics disciplines. Currently, we have 46 Members (8 Academic Staff, 7 Research Staff, and 29 Ph.D. Students) involved in research and teaching activities in computer graphics, computer vision, and all aspects of visual computing. At the ARVR Innovate Conference and Expo, we will be demonstrating the following projects:

A Virtual Reality Volumetric Music Video: Featuring New Pagans — Gareth W. Young (Assistant Professor) will demonstrate a VR Volumetric Music Video to show off representations of music performance via VR technology. As an interactive music video, we will present how volumetric music videos can be distributed for unique virtual performances.

Appearance Transfer in Mixed Reality for Scientific Visualization — Priyansh Jalan (d-real) will present appearance transfer for physical objects using a mannequin head to visualize scientific anatomy. This technique could enhance depth cues creating more immersive representations and benefit medical education, training, and research.

Photorealistic Virtual Enfacement — Hugh Jordan (d-real) will demonstrate a VR enfacement experience using the newest iteration of virtual humans. This research explores the Uncanny Valley Effect, where imperfect representations of humans can elicit feelings of uneasiness and revulsion. This research aims to understand better the enfacement illusion and how it may affect one’s behavior in a virtual environment.
