Introducing Singing In Schools!

We present the Royal Opera House National Dramatic Programmes, Create and Sing workshops Carmen and Hansel & Gretel as well as a variety of other musicals.

This is an incredible project that culminates in pupils performing their own version of an opera or musical including specially arranged musical extracts and scenes built around improvisation based on original text.

We will work on: vocal techniques, discover the world of opera (what it is, who it is for and what it can sound like), creative storytelling, characterisation, physicalising music and words, performance technique, musical interpretations and of course rehearsal and performance of your very own production.

This project is aimed at children of any gender, ethnicity or background aged between 7 – 13 and we believe there is something to be gained for everyone. It can be a real joy to see children flourish in a new capacity or equally it can give a brilliant opportunity to already high attaining individuals. It is a perfect activity for a group of 30 children to collaborate together. There are a variety of session structures and lengths available, each with their own positive outcomes.

There is an opportunity for pre and post teaching – making it a substantial unit of work not just an afternoon of fun (though it will promise to be that also!). There is so much to be gained from creating dramatic music together.
