Niger Vs Benin Dispute: France Denies Secret Deployment of Troops Against Niger | Firstpost Africa

Tensions between West African neighbours Niger and Benin are escalating. In the latest, France has denied Nigerian reports claiming that it had secretly deployed troops in Benin to counter the junta government in Niger. Niamey had earlier alleged that France had set up a military base in Benin to enforce continued border closures. 5 Niger nationals have also been detained by Benin for allegedly entering a pipeline terminal under false pretence. The two neighbours have been at odds over exports of crude oil from Niger via Benin. Benin is demanding the Niger junta reopen the borders to Benin's goods and normalise relations before the oil shipments can restart. Watch this video for details.
