Madeira - Levada Caldeirão Verde (PR 9) - Hike to the Green Cauldron 4K

Hike on one of the most beautiful and spectacular levadas in Madeira. Starting from the forester's house in the Parque Florestal das Queimadas, the Levada do Caldeirão Verde leads through lush green laurel forest along a steep slope with breathtaking views, past a few small waterfalls to the green cauldron (Caldeirão Verde).
There are 4 tunnels to cross, so a flashlight should definitely be part of your equipment.
At the end of the hike we reach the green cauldron, into which a spectacular 100 m high waterfall falls.
You should be at the car park as early as possible, then this levada is not so crowded and there is little oncoming traffic from returning hikers.
For the approx. 6 km long hike (12 km there and back), sturdy shoes are recommended (and as mentioned, don't forget your flashlight!), you should be sure-footed and not afraid of heights. The path along the levada is secured with a solid wire rope railing.
We actually wanted to hike further from Caldeirão Verde to Caldeirão do Inferno, but both times we were at Caldeirão Verde, the path there was unfortunately closed due to rockfalls.
