Noticing Shandon's posts in Facebook's Tortoiseshell Cats Group initially inspired me to interview this longtime musical acquaintance whom I interviewed in the 1990s when he was the drummer in the hard rock band, Pariah (Geffen Records).

As we chatted about doing this interview, he unveiled stories and life experiences of his father Rock star Doug Sahm (Sir Douglas Quintet, Texas Tornados) and the band scene in Austin and the Netherlands, where he now lives. Shandon's been in the Meat Puppets, Butthole Surfers' Gibby Haynes. He also fronts Sahm Covers Sahm--his father's music.

We spoke significantly about Pariah and his late group member Sims Ellison, who--sadly--committed suicide for reasons related to depression and not understanding fickleness from the music industry.

Our interview deals with all of Shandon's professional work and love of his tortie cat Nae Nae (pronounced Neigh Neigh, like what horses say. He also offers insight on the difference between being a rock star and someone genuinely in the music world for the right reasons.

We also talk about the relaxed atmosphere that the Netherlands offers him and how things have changed since the 1990s.
