In this review, I dive into "Sirk on Sirk: Interviews with Jon Halliday", originally published in 1972 by Viking Press, with an expanded edition released in 1997. This fascinating book offers unique insights into the mind of Douglas Sirk, one of the most iconic directors of melodrama, including some of his most personal reflections that were withheld until after his death.

Though I bought my copy in 2011, I never fully read it—until now, as part of my #ClassicFilmReading challenge. What I discovered within these pages completely surprised me, offering not just a deeper understanding of Sirk's films but also his thoughts on Hollywood, art, and his personal experiences.
