Philanthropy is for all of us -- lovers of humanity | Eugene Cho | TEDxHanRiver

He delivers a compelling talk at TEDxHanRiver about the essence and beauty of philanthropy. The root meaning of philanthropy, contends Cho, is to become lovers of humanity. "We don't have to be rock stars, millionaires, or famous to become philanthropists." With this in mind, he shares his family's personal story of starting a grassroots movement called One Day's Wages and about inspiring every day people to join the fight against global poverty.

One Day's Wages (ODW) is a new grassroots movement of people, stories, and actions to alleviate extreme global poverty. ODW promotes awareness, invites simple giving, and supports sustainable relief through partnerships, especially with smaller organizations in developing regions.

Eugene Cho is the founder and visionary of One Day’s Wages (ODW), “a grassroots movement of people, stories, and actions to alleviate extreme global poverty.” Since its launch in October 2009, ODW has raised over $2.5 million dollars for initiatives to empower those living in extreme global poverty. He is also the founder and Lead Pastor of Quest Church — an urban, multi-cultural and multi-generational church in Seattle, Washington – as well as founder and Executive Director of the Q Café, an innovative non-profit community café and music venue. For his entrepreneurial work and spirit, Eugene was recently honored as one of 50 Everyday American Heroes. He recently published his first book, Overrated: Are We More in Love With the Idea of Changing the World Than Actually Changing the World?

Eugene and his wife, Minhee, have been married for eighteen years and have three children.
