When visiting India is 2022 I visited this amazing place in Ponnani called VPS Kalari. VPS Kalari is specialised in Kalaripayattu, which is an Indian Martial Arts considered to be the oldest martial art in the world. In my pursuit of learning all there is to know about the mace or gada, I needed to find out more about the traditional gadha payattu, also known as the gada fight. This kalari place was the first one I have ever visited where this was taught. I stayed for five days and got quite deep into the practice. This video is focussed on me learning the basics of the gada fight and finding comparisons between my steel mace practice. More videos about my visit here coming soon!
