You ever go to a car meet and are like “damn CR 2P in chrome? Sick!” but then get closer and realize they’re Aodhans? Yep, us too.

While we’ll give them **** for the CR 2P reps forever - seriously, we love you Aodhan, but why, these guys do make some super sick wheels that won’t break the bank.

Who are these guys and wtf do they do
OK so, it’s not super easy to find a ton of backstory on Aodhan. These guys aren’t volk racing, they don’t have a 40 year motorsport history, BUT - here’s what we could find
Aodhan is a division of a larger wheel retailer who has been selling on Ebay for a LOOOONG time - oddly enough I bought my first set of Rota G Forces from them back in the day. Small world
We’re not going to say who these guys are, because we’re not sure if they want to share it, but they have sold a lot lot lot lot lot of wheels over the years.
At some point in time, like most retailers do, they identified a niche in the market where other manufacturers weren’t making a product that fit, and they jumped on it
What are they, how are they made
Aodhans are what we would consider to be an entry level brand for the tuner/sport compact, sport performance, muscle, and even luxury world. Ranging from 800 bucks a set in 17” cast up to around 1300 for 20” flow formed, Aodhans definitely consider budget first.
Most of their wheels are your standard cast wheel, which involves heating up metal real real hot until it’s a liquid, pouring into a mold, allowing to cool
This creates an affordable wheel that can be mass produced.
Aodhan also has some flow formed models, but more on that later.
This is one of the most common arguments we hear about this brand
Sure, some of their wheels are reps, we can’t deny it
Most of them are not. Fake hardware does not make a wheel a rep. A rep wheel is a replica, meaning a copy, of another wheel. Aodhan has maybe 5-6 true rep designs, and the rest are their own concepts. So if you buy a set, be prepared for some nerd living in their mom’s basement to hit you with “i wouldnt buy reps” but rest easy knowing that like 90% of their designs arent.
So Aodhan has 3 lineups
AFF Series
These are Aodhan’s Flow Formed, or as they call it SPF - Single Phase Forged wheels. They’re a relatively lightweight, strong wheel and are actually some of the most affordable flow formed wheels on the market.
They have a few styles that all tend to cater more to the sport/sport luxury market with mesh, concave split 5, split 5, and similar styles. These are cool wheels and definitely a great alternative to some of the more expensive flow formed sport luxury wheels out there.
Aodhan launched the DS series for the stance/wheel fitment market and hit this one out of the park! Their first few designs - the DS01 DS02 DS03 were reminiscent of other designs, but the DS05 and onward are all their own unique styles, and they look great. The dress up hardware adds a nice touch, and you get a solid lip size out of these as well.
The DS-X is their latest model and I’ve got one here with me right now. This is a great looking concave multispoke wheel with a deep lip that comes in a bunch of colors. IMO if you’re building a stance car and are on a budget, Aodhan’s DS series is the place to start.
The AH series were Aodhan’s first product lineup and are unfortunately where Aodhan got some of their “rep brand” reputation from. These are, for the most part, wheels styled after other popular designs that are significantly more affordable. You have a vsxx style, meister style, hokkaido style, but you also have the AH-X which, in my opinion, is the best mesh wheel for the money on the market right now.
Yeah, probably, with a few caveats
If you’re a new enthusiast just getting into the game and you want wheels NOW, great choice. If it’s your daily driver and you want it to look great, awesome choice.
If you’re on a budget, yes absolutely. You can get a set of these with tires, with tpms sensors, with lug nuts, signed sealed and delivered straight to your front door for like 1600 bucks-ish. You just can’t beat that
If you’ve got a drift build and you want a whole bunch of wheels - awesome choice.
HOWEVER - there are some people whom these wheels just aren’t for
IF - you only run “rEaL WhEeLs” - why are you even watching this video, these aren’t for you
IF - you have a more classic 90s/early 00s style build - a lot of Aodhan’s designs are pretty modern. There are probably some other brands that work better for this
IF - you’re going to heavily track your car - Aodhan has their wheels on some weekend warrior type track cars, but doesn’t have a huge motorsport history. Their wheels are fine for a weekend build, but if it’s a dedicated race build there might be some other options
