Ubisoft’s intention with Splinter Cell: Deathwatch is understandably a result of other animated series like Castlevania, Devil May Cry, and Arcane topping charts on Netflix. Since Splinter Cell: Blacklist was released in 2013, Deathwatch is the closest original story we have so far. While some creative liberties were taken to adapt it as a TV show, Ubisoft has confirmed that the events are considered canon to the games. Diana Shetland, the daughter of Sam Fisher’s friend turned foe, Douglas Shetland, plays a central part in the show, reminiscent of her roles in Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory.
