A Bit of the Ridgeway and a Wild Camp | Wayland's Smithy | Uffington Castle | Rice and Miso Soup

Описание к видео A Bit of the Ridgeway and a Wild Camp | Wayland's Smithy | Uffington Castle | Rice and Miso Soup

- A walk along the Ridgeway National Trail (and some more minor paths at the start and end) from Liddington to Wantage, taking in Wayland's Smithy Long Barrow and Uffington Castle along the way.

A wild camp in the middle of the walk on a hilltop in the pouring rain. Undeterred, I sat outside for most of the evening, cooked what is effectively the classic Japanese breakfast (rice and miso soup), followed by a couple of sausage rolls, all accompanied with the standard bottle of Gevrey Chambertin.

Mostly just "classic Tweedy Outdoors" - walking, camping, outdoor cooking and wine - but also with a few musings about history thrown in, particularly which came first: the Ridgeway or the ancient monuments which line it?

This probably isn't the best channel to watch if you're interested in reviews of camping kit (I just see it as a means to an end!), but for what it's worth I used the following kit, most of which falls well within the "ultralight" category:

- Osprey Levity 45 litre backpack (830g)
- Nordisk Lofoten 1 ULW tent (590g)
- Big Agnes Kings Canyon UL quilt (454g)
- Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite sleeping pad (430g)
- Haglofs LIM ("less is more") Proof jacket (270g)
- Haglofs LIM Proof trousers (250g or something)

I'm not an ultralight elitist per se, but I'm a bit of a wimp, I hate having a heavy backpack over long distances (I walked about 19 miles in total here), and like to take a bottle of wine along with me, which adds on about 1.5 kilos.
