SmartSurfACE (TransPRK and SmartPulse Technology) removes the epithelium and treats the corneal shape all in one step. This makes it very simple. There is no hyperopic shift, there is no inconsistency in the myopic correction.

Dr. Tan's passion is corneal wavefront guided surgery. The excimer laser SCHWIND AMARIS 1050RS is the fastest laser in the world. It pulses at 1050 hibs per second and this gives a very short treatment time. The short treatment time basicly takes care of variability of dehydration. So I get very good results with good stability. Also, the SCHWIND laser includes what we call SmartPulse therapy, which basically means that it smoothes the corneal surface. This is especially important when you're doing transepithelial PRK treatments. TransPRK originally is done in a two-step procedure by other lasers, but the SCHWIND laser it actually does the whole treatment in one setting. It treats both: Removes the epithelium and treats the corneal shape. All in one go. This makes it very, very simple. There is no hyperopic shift. There is no inconsisteny in the myopic vision. TransPRK is also very, very good for treatment of difficult cases: Cases with scars, cases with irregular corneas. TransPRK guided by corneal wavefront guided treatments is the best for treating difficult cases. I have done lasik over many years. I have used many laser. I have used five different lasers and the SCHWIND AMARIS 1050 RS is the best laser ever.
