From the Flight Deck – Phraseology

Aviation has a unique language designed to ensure effective communication between pilots and controllers. This video explores some of the words and phrases you might encounter when operating on the surface of an airport or preparing to land.

0:24 - This section reviews some ground phraseology including: roger; standby; go ahead; hold short; monitor; taxi up to and hold short; continue; and line up and wait.

5:03 - This section reviews some airborne phraseology including the terms and phrases: cleared to land; cleared low approach; cleared for the option; go around; and continue.
