Bonobos are closely related to chimpanzees, and take the prize as probably the freakiest animal in the world.

Bonobos use sex the way we use money. If a group member wants food from another, they are more likely to share if they first have sex with the food owner. If a newcomer wants to be part of the group, it must first get it on with the top female.

When bonobos greet one another lets just say they don’t lead with a handshake. Same goes for calming tensions as bonobos probably invented the idea of make-up sex.

How they do it is also unique. They are the only other species that has sex face to face, they are the only to kiss with their tongue, and the only to engage in oral sex.

And they do all this while being bisexual. Ever heard of penis fencing? It’s basically what it sounds like and male bonobos like it as much as they like bananas… which is a lot.
