International payment is always a bit scary, but here is an exemple of what an international payment is: a Chinese tourist who wants to buy a Louis Vuitton bag at the Champs Elysées with his mobile phone and his Alipay wallet - which is PayPal's competitor in China. It can also be for example a French business man who wants to book a hotel in Singapore with his American express card. Last example: an American who comes to France with a master card or visa. He wants to buy a product or service on a platform such as Uber or Deliveroo when he travels in Europe with this card.
These 3 examples are about payment, but it's a mix of different payment methods: we talked about wallet, about credit card. This implies collecting money from the countries where people are, and sending it to the countries where the merchants are. That's what international payments are about.
