Mathampatti/Malaiyampatti village of Erode district is home to the unique Cholagar tribe at an altitude of 3500 feet at Kathirimalai. we trekking dangerously through 45 hairpin bends near 9 kms from kathiripatti foothill village. The protector of forest "Veerappan" wandering this mountain range inbetween karnataka and tamilnadu. kathirimalai goddess, sister of lord siva "Mangammal amman" temple located nearby cholagar tribal village and further 30 mins we trekking to reach the tophill, Lord siva "Maadheswarar" Suyambu lingam and footprint of maadheswarar and her sister mangammal is there. Veerappan used to visit and dharshan both of them often. There is a lot of elephant movement here, so don't come alone without guide/local people.
