2. Dont be deterred from using common "short term" Pokemon in the beginning that evolve very early/easily and can make your early game life 10x easier. Not every Pokemon you use has to have long term potential. Mightyena, Seaking, and Swoobat are examples of such Pokemon that often get shafted by players even when they're immensely powerful in the early hours of the game and are better at this point than Pokemon that evolve later or otherwise only become powerful later on.

3. Dont fret over minor typing overlap. You shouldn't let that keep you from using good Pokemon. If you have a Swampert but also want to use Excadrill, just use both! Likewise over worrying about overlapping weaknesses is probably unwarranted save for certain gym battles. As long as your team can kill shit quickly it's probably fine.

4. Common Candies are more useful than you think. With access to these you can freely overlevel Pokemon and then level back down to access evolutions and moves that would otherwise be just out of reach for certain major battles. For example, Combusken evolves at level 36 into Blaziken. Using Common candies you can have a usable Blaziken available to fight Shelly despite the level 35 cap.

5. Nature Power is pretty awesome in Reborn. Learn how to use it and what it turns into in each field effect, it may prove to be a valuable tool for Pokemon like Serperior that generally lack any coverage.

6. Pickup is pretty rad too and can get you crazy good items to either use or sell at a high price.

7. Try not to hoard consumables, even if you think they're rare, they're there for you to use. If you're thinking you might need to use that Focus Sash, it's probably worth it.
