It is located on the Cnr of Saltwater Promenade & Point Cook Road, Point Cook 3030.

Point Cook secure big win over WRFL rivals Caroline Springs
In arguably its biggest win in club history, Point Cook announced its arrival as a WRFL premiership threat with a big win over Caroline Springs. Here’s how Clay Smith reacted.

Point Cook has officially arrived as one of the big boys of the Western Region league.

Instead of going into their shells after a last gasp defeat against reigning premier Altona a week earlier, the Bulldogs rallied to secure what was their biggest win of the year.

It was arguably the biggest in the club’s history.

The scoreboard read 13.11 (89) to 6.7 (43) in Point Cook’s favour on the final siren in a statement just how improved Clay Smith’s side are in 2023.

“That’s who we want to be challenging, the likes of Altona, Caro and Werribee Districts,” he said of his team’s performance.

“It was our most complete performance of the year. We used the ball a whole lot better than the week before, where we probably costs ourselves some opportunities.

“And one we got it inside forward 50 we managed to get the reward for it. I thought our back line was superb.

“A full four quarter effort.”

Young gun Max Rouvray returned to the Bulldogs forward line with immediate impact with a game-high four majors as Shaun Wyatt added three of his own.

Rouvray missed the clash against Altona due to concussion.

“It’s good to have him back,” Smith said.

“He’s having a great year so far, he brings a lot of energy to our forward group.

“He missed a fair chunk of the pre-season because of his cricket commitments but I can’t be complaining too much when he’s kicking bags of four or five goals for us.”

Former Richmond player Derek Eggmolesse-Smith was best afield for the Bulldogs at Town Centre Oval as his penetrating foot skills broke the game open.

Billy Kolyniuk, Heath Schiavello and Jim Botsaris also impressed.

Importantly, Smith’s side were able to collect the four points without Luke Dahlhaus who has missed the last two games through injury.

“That’s footy, it happens everywhere,” Smith said of the injuries.

“We’ve got a pretty fit and healthy list at the moment which is pleasing.”

Brian Lake played his first game of the year for Caroline Springs with a number of Lakers stars unavailable.

He kicked two goals and was named among his side’s better players.

“He definitely made me think,” Smith said of Lake’s performance.

“He started forward and was a real presence then we got on top he went down back and took about six intercept marks in the first quarter alone.

“We tried to curb his influence as much as possible.”

The road ahead for Point Cook doesn’t get any easier this weekend as it prepares to welcome ladder leader Werribee Districts.

Caroline Springs will look to bounce back against Altona.
