Before installing your deck lighting you will need to check you have an outdoor, 13 AMP plug socket within five metres of your deck. If you don't, you'll need to have one installed by a qualified electrician.

Follow these steps to install your deck lighting:

1. Remove the fascia board.
2. Lay your light fittings out in the positions you want them to be in once installed (keep in mind the lights can't be placed more than 1.2 meters apart) and mark the wood.
3. Reattach the fascia board and drill mounting holes using a 24mm drill bit.
4. Remove the deck boards on top and use the same drill bit to create holes in the joists or noggins.
5. Feed the cables of each light through the mounting holes.
6. Place the lights into position and mount them.
7. Add the blanking plug to the final socket and connect the driver cable to the socket closest to the plug.
8. Position the mains cable and driver out of sight in the decking.
9. Finally, test the lights work and then secure all of the deck boards back into position.
