Jack Douglas, Water Rat 707.
John Douglas Robertson was born April 26th 1927 and all though his family lived in London his Mother was determined that he would be a Geordie, she went to her Father's house in Swing Bridge, Newcastle close to her due date and gave birth to Jack there.

Clearly born into a family of theatrical eccentrics, he was performing by the time he was seven and directing by the age of fifteen (Cinderella, Empire Theatre, Sunderland). By his late teens he was drawn more to comedy and started a double act with Joe Baker. They soon established themselves as a top turn, touring the world and performing at number one venues. They were so busy at one time, they worked on the new BBC children's show "Crackerjack" in the day and the Windmill at night.

Eventually the act ran its course and they split, Joe went to try his lunch in the States while Jack teamed up with Des O'Connor on a new ATV show and from this the pair performed at The Royal Variety Show. While working with O'Connor, Jack created a nervous ticked character called "Alf Ippititimus".
Jack was a regular team player with the Carry On series appearing in seven of the films.
He died 18th December 2008
