Hi, I'm Jesse with etrailer. Today we'll be taking a look at the Curt Ball and Safety Chain Loop Kit on our 2022 GMC Sierra 3500. This kit's for trucks that have the OEM prep package, and today we're working with an eight foot bed. However, this will also work with a six and three quarter bed. Everything's gonna come in this nice blow molded case here, which you can keep everything in when you're not planning on towing. The two safety cable loops are gonna be a cast steel, and they have a nice black powder coat on that that's gonna hold up two scratches very well.

And the ball itself is a steel that is chrome plated, so that should also hold up to scratches and wear and tear. And then your rubber cap for when you're not towing anything, that will cover this hole and keep any dirt or debris from getting in there. The ball is gonna be the standard two and five 16ths size and has a weight capacity of 38,000 pounds. Just be sure to double check your owner's manual to ensure that your GMC can handle whatever weight you're planning on throwing at it. As far as installation goes, it's super simple with this Curt.

You just pull that tab up, turn it sideways, and it'll pop out. And just do the reverse of that to install it. That will stay in place for our safety cable loops. We'll just uninstall these pins, lift up here, rotate it, and it'll pop out. And for installation, just the opposite of that.

Just get it in there, make sure it's held in place tight, and put your pin back on. For the safety cable loops, I actually have a smaller five 16ths clevis. You'll most likely have a larger one. But as you can see, we're still able to install that just fine. It clips in place and we're ready to tow.

And when you're not towing, everything stores away in this nice, convenient case, and you can stow that away, either in your truck or in the trailer. And don't forget to install your rubber cap. If you're looking for a gooseneck ball that's gonna be on the higher end as far as weight capacities go, you definitely can't go wrong with the Curt kit, especially if you have an eight foot bed like we're working with today where you're not so worried about cab clearance. However, Curt does have a couple options out there that are gonna have an offset ball that will bring that ball away from the cab, so that you don't have to worry about any contact with the cab while you're driving down the road.
