Simone Biles' heartfelt mission to change foster kids’ lives

Simone Biles is one of the most decorated gymnasts in history. She’s also a former foster kid.

Knowing how important a support system is for achieving your dreams, Biles recently helped bring the nonprofit organization, Friends of the Children, to her hometown of Houston.

Friends of the Children pairs each foster child with a long-term “Friend,” a mentor who commits to spending 12 years with them. With 93% of Friends of the Children youth avoiding the justice system, 83% graduating high school, and 98% avoiding teen parenting, the model has proven effective. And with Simone Biles behind the organization, foster youth in Houston have one of the best role models imaginable.
