A common myth is that people think the tire will be worn from me the middle if you have too much pressure and from the sides if you have too little.

Instead, it's actually quite the opposite: too low pressure will cause the tire to wear from the middle.
Too high pressure mainly causes the tire to be hard and it requires quite a lot of pressure before it causes issues in wear.

Rule of thumb for tire pressure:
R17 2.6-2.7bar
R18 2.7-2.8bar

I use the same pressure in the front and in the rear wheels even when the load is normal (just one or two people in the car).
