Removal of medium sized back benign fatty tumor (lipoma).
.
The main issue for this procedure is how much dead space is left behind once this sizable tumor has been removed. Fluid (seroma) can build up and cause an uncomfortable bulge. To minimize this risk, I close the incision in multiple layers, and apply a pressure dressing that the patient keeps on for one week after surgery. All that is to squish done the empty space and hopefully prevent fluid was building up in it.
