I now have four different VCOs that do some kind of phase modulation. In comparing them, I've come to the conclusion that it's sorta apples and oranges...the methods they each use are the same in that it's some kind of mucking about with the phase, but they're so different in what they do with the mucking about that it's hard to draw parallels.

The closest two are the Operat and Generate 3, which each do a similar form of phase modulation without altering the phase of the output waves relative to each other.

The PAO and PDO, however, both alter the phase of at least some of the waves. The same, but different. Kinda.

Anyway, it's interesting to hear them all up against one another and appreciate that ultimately you probably just need one of each to cover all the bases.

But isn't that sorta all of eurorack in a nutshell?
