About Annie Caldwell, PhD
Annie Caldwell is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes at the University of Colorado, Anschutz School of Medicine who received a 5-year K01 Mentored Career Development Award from the NHLBI in 2019. Her program of research is dedicated to integrating the complex set of factors that influence obesity and responses to lifestyle modification obesity treatment. This work is motivated by the urgent need to develop more effective intervention approaches that lead to long-term weight loss and reduced chronic disease risk through sustainable changes in healthy eating and physical activity.

Dr. Caldwell was recognized as 1 of 25 Emerging Luminaries in Nutrition, Exercise, and Metabolism by the School of Public Health at Indiana University in 2019. She has made significant theoretical contributions applying evolutionary theory to understanding physical activity, eating behavior, and obesity, and was invited to write a sole authored book published by Springer in 2016 titled, Human Physical Fitness and Activity: An Evolutionary and Life History Perspective. Her diverse training and research spans disciplines to bring a unique perspective to existing behavioral approaches to obesity treatment and health behavior change.

About the Sustaining Behavior Change Conference:
The Sustaining Behavior Change Conference grows from the belief that limitations in our ability to help people make lasting changes in their health-related behaviors is one of the greatest challenges to the well-being of our population. Whether it is adopting healthy eating and physical activity habits, or curtailing the use of unhealthy substances or behaviors, people seem able to initiate behavior change, but a range of forces typically lead to a return of previous behaviors.

The Sustaining Behavior Change Conference assembles a group of leading scholars in a range of disciplines, including behavioral sciences, behavioral economics, marketing and neuroscience to share their insights and perspectives on this important issue. Our goal is to spur creative new thinking about how we might study and implement strategies that will foster effective long-term behavior change.

The Sustaining Behavior Change Conference is brought to you by the CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center, Colorado NORC, and UAB NORC.
