Stakeholders have called on the government to enhance investment in special needs education, to ensure equitable access for learners with special needs. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony at Chikombero school for learners with hearing impairment in Vihiga, the local administration decried the high instances of special needs children missing out on education due to lack of awareness and inadequate facilities in special schools. And as Laura Otieno reports, Safaricom foundation has pledged to continue in its efforts to bridge the gap in education with a 50 million shillings investment to upgrade facilities at the Chikombero school.
