As part of Bach@7 Cantata Series, Choral Arts Philadelphia presents a World Premiere of "O Antiphons," an Advent compilation of seven works by seven Philadelphia composers: Mark Rimple, Daniel Shapiro, Anthony Mosakowski, David Ludwig, Melissa Dunphy, Kile Smith and Riho Maimets.

The World premiere performance is on December 2, 2015 at 7 pm at St. Clement's Church.

WHAT ARE THE O ANTIPHONS:

The O Antiphons are Magnificat antiphons used at the Vespers service of the last seven days of Advent in Western Christian traditions. Each text begins with the interjection “O” and reflects on the nature of the coming Christ child. The O Antiphons are performed liturgically as follows:
December 17: O Sapientia (O Wisdom)
December 18: O Adonai (O Lord)
December 19: O Radix Jesse (O Root of Jesse)
December 20: O Clavis David (O Key of David)
December 21: O Oriens (O Dayspring)
December 22: O Rex Gentium (O King of the Nations)
December 23: O Emmanuel (O God With Us)
