Aikido TAI SABAKI, leaving the line of the attack, by Stefan Stenudd

Описание к видео Aikido TAI SABAKI, leaving the line of the attack, by Stefan Stenudd

Taisabaki (体捌き) is the body move to evade attacks at the beginning of aikido techniques. The attack is not blocked, but avoided by a step forward to the side of the attacker. It is immediately followed by a pinning or throwing technique.

This video contains basic taisabaki exercises as well as applications in several aikido techniques.

For clarity, I mostly do the techniques rather slowly on the video. In some cases I go faster, but of course that can be done with every technique.

This was recorded in 2018 and the beginning of 2019, but not edited until 2023. Stephan Schröder (   / @stephanschroder7611  ) was uke (the attacker).

I am yet to write about taisabaki on my website, but I did so in a column on the AikiWeb forum, back in 2008:

I have also written extensively about taisabaki in Swedish here:
