But seriously, hyaluronic acid fillers attract water after injection and expand some. We also know now that fillers last much longer in the facial tissues than we thought. Even when it looks like the filler has faded, we can see by ultrasound that there is a significant amount still there.
For both of these reasons, I think it’s wise to be conservative with filler amount at any given visit. I much prefer to see people back and add more than put a ton in all at once.
