Scrap Wood Project: Bandsaw Box

Описание к видео Scrap Wood Project: Bandsaw Box

Every now and then, you need a small project to cleanse the palate. This bandsaw box is such a thing! I recently completed a far more challenging pie-crust, tilt-top table (There are 9 videos on my channel if you care to take a look) that required cabriole legs. Cutting those left me with some big chunks of cherry, and being unable to throw away even the smallest pieces of scrap, I am trying to find uses for those pieces.

And so, this small and fairly simple bandsaw box is one use of those scraps. There's nothing overly fancy about this, it's not terribly complicated to build, and you don't even need many tools... except, obviously a bandsaw is kind of important. I was doing a few other things along with this box, but I suspect this took maybe 3-4 hours altogether? Not so bad... Plus, this makes a great little gift for a young child to keep whatever trinkets they want to keep safe.

If I'd set out to make a nicer box, I'd have used contrasting woods (Walnut or Wenge or something, and maybe a little Maple), and I'd get one of those flockers and some flocking supplies. But for a fun little project, this was enough. This was also a good use of my Shopsmith (Bandsaw and Disc Sander), and was a good demonstration for my new, very sharp Timber Wolf bandsaw blade.

Now get some stock glued up and get to it!
