2024 KONA HONGWANJI BON DANCE

Highlights from our 2024 Bon Dance at Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.

The weather was a little “wet” at times, but that did not dampen the spirits of the participants! Dancers and drummers joyfully danced the night away! “Eddie”, our giant Teru Teru Bozu, did his job… yay, Eddie!

We had a new song/dance called “Smile”… the music was composed by Kai Ioh, and the dance choreographed by Randal Smith… both from Kona! A truly “local” and “homegrown” bon dance!

Mahalo to all the dancers, drummers, and spectators… especially all the ones from out of town… we really appreciate you making the trek!

And a mega-special shout out to all the volunteers who helped set up, run the event, and take down the Yagura… the dance truly cannot happen without your support!
