1000 Yard 308 Howa Mountain Rifle Final Test - Nosler ABLR - Best Hunting Bullet

The goal was to have a weather proof, light weight, 1000 yard capable, 308 hunting rifle. Why 308 you ask? Because I have 20 years of experience and reloading with that round). I am a firm believer that the 308 is one of the most versatile rounds out there. When combined with the Nosler 168 Accubond LR. It makes this little Mountain Rifle exactly that.
The build.
Howa 1500 - 308 win, with cerakote barrel and action,
Bansner High Tech stock.
Talley 20 MOA rail,
Leupold 4-14 cds dial w/ 2 revolution dial for extended range.
Nosler 168 gr Accubond Long Range @ 2650
1631 fps and 992 lb. ft @ 1000 yards

Part of this experiment was to see if it was doable, part was to cure a problem of missing opportunities in the 600-800 yard range every year because the round I have previously used runs out of gas at 550-600. So part experiment and part problem solving.

Practice, Practice, Practice.
Don't ever shoot beyond your abilities at an animal. I would never risk a marginal shot. But having the confidence gear that goes beyond your abilities it very nice to have.
